Participation matrix by competition type
Understand the cross-participation patterns of players across different competition types.
About the data
What this matrix shows
This matrix displays player counts grouped by their annual participation profile. Each row represents a unique combination of competition types that players engaged in during a given year.
Key concept: The matrix answers the question "How many players participated in which combination of competition types?"
How participation is determined
Binary logic (Yes/No per competition type):
- A player is marked as "participant" in a competition type if they played at least 1 match in that type during the year
- The number of matches doesn't matter — 1 match or 50 matches = same participation status
Practical examples:
-
Player A plays 15 tournament matches + 5 interclub matches in 2024
→ Profile: ✅ Tournament + ✅ Interclub -
Player B plays 1 tournament match + 30 friendly matches in 2024
→ Profile: ✅ Tournament + ✅ Friendly -
Player C plays only 50 interclub matches in 2024
→ Profile: ✅ Interclub only
Competition types included
- 👥 Interclub - Team competitions between clubs
- 🏆 Tournament - Individual tournaments
- 🪜 MiniLeague - Small group competitions
- ❤️ Friendly - Friendly matches
Data aggregation
- One entry per player per year: Each player appears once annually in the dataset
- Club affiliation: Players are linked to their club (or "Sans club" if none)
- Gender split: Counts are separated by gender (Men/Women) to show participation patterns
What's excluded
- ❌ Players without gender information
- ❌ Players with zero recorded matches in the selected period
- ❌ International players are excluded
